Celebrating Gods Mercy: Elder Kanu Ngwogu

You might wonder why I am writing this, his ma grand father.
He was buried on Friday 26th of February,2016
Elder Kanu Ngwogu was born at Oror Village, Arochukwu on the 10th of June, 1920.Although there were no birth registries at that time, his maternal uncle, Mazi S. O. Onyeacholem ( of blessed family) a veteran educationist kept the record of his birth.
Early Life:
He was the only surviving child (out of nine Children) of his parents-Late Mazi Dim Ngwogu Okoronkwo Okoro Okennachi of Oror, Nde Okenachi Arochukwu and Madam Mgbafor Onyeacholem of Nde Ijeoma, Amannagwu, Arochukwu. Sir Kanu or teacher Kanu (as his admirers still call him) was born at a time when high death rate was the order of the day. He saw just two of his siblings.
Being the only surviving child made him the apple of his traumatized mothers eyes who guarded him jealously. Moreover, his father appeared more interested in his business enterprise with the Europeans than with education. His father was a successful merchant and traded in boxes of tobacco and bales of stock fish at igwenga (now ikot-abasi). Little Kanu was more or less tied to his mothers apron strings who gave him enough doze of over pampering and Petting. The saving grace was his maternal uncle Mr. Onyeacholem who was a government teacher at holy child, Abak. He forcefully took him parents and sent him to school.
Marital Life:
Our Daddy(my grand dad) wedded his heart throb, pretty Miss Christiana Ekenma Okwuwasi on 21st December,1950. at Arochukwu. According to him.... More coming.
